CAPOEIRA IN THE FIRST A socio-educational project proposed by Capoeira Paname

A socio-educational project proposed by Capoeira Paname Capoeira on the front page, socio-educational project, addresses an emergency problem concerning the whole of the European Union: disadvantaged young people.

Today, according to Eurostat figures, thirty million people between the ages of 15 and 29, or one third of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, are at high risk of social exclusion.

Non-formal education appears as one of the solutions to reduce this risk. However, the non-formal dimension of capoeira education is indisputable. This martial art, coming from Brazil and whose practice is growing more and more throughout Europe, allows many instructors to intervene with young people in difficulty.

Capoeira à la Une proposes to put in place means to enhance and develop the practice of this sport with young people in difficulty and to strengthen the position of the various stakeholders in capoeira.

Capoeira à la Une proposes that we develop innovative tools such as:

1) A European framework of transversal and specific competences for capoeira teachers

2) Pedagogical guidelines for capoeira schools and certification agencies to train and validate the professionalism of youth educators. Capoeira in the first will be tested over a period of 24 months, and will engage 60 operators. This project will involve around 100 people from the six partner countries. The results of this experiment can be consulted online during the 24 months following the closing of the project. During the same period, across the European Union, public or private stakeholders involved in non-formal education of disadvantaged youth, capoeira educators, sports federations and skills certification agencies will benefit and use the results of the project, in valuing them.

Capoeira in the headline will benefit in the long run:

• The promotion and, above all, the increase of the educational and cultural routes of Capoeira schools for underprivileged young people, through the professionalization of their educators

• The professional insertion of educators

• The establishment of new collaborations between the different actors of non-formal education

By its ambitions, its objectives, its orientations, Capoeira on the front page is a compliant project:

• the Europe 2020 Strategy which calls for inclusive growth, support for acquiring new skills; a decrease in the number of people excluded from society

• the Strategic Framework - Education and Training 2020, whose strategic objectives are openness to non-formal and informal learning; greater transparency and recognition of learning outcomes; promoting equality, social cohesion and active citizenship

• the Resolution of the Council and the Representatives of the Governments of the Member States of 22/05/08 and 27/11/12.
